Important tips to find your perfect work-from-home accommodation, from the co-founder of RemoteCasa.

Hi there! I’m Ana, one of the co-founders at Remote Casa. As we expand our partnerships in Colombia, Mexico and the rest of Latin America, I wanted to share some exciting insights into what makes a great temporary accommodation for remote work and Digital Nomads. Here are four crucial features to look for when browsing properties:

1. Prime Location Location is everything. You want to be able to walk to a grocery store, the gym, or the bank. Proximity to public transportation is also key, especially if you won’t have a car. A well-located property ensures you can enjoy your stay long-term.

2. Reliable Wi-Fi Good Wi-Fi is a must. Anything above 100 Mbps should suffice for Zoom calls, gaming, and streaming movies. Ask for a screenshot of the Wi-Fi speed if it’s not listed in the property details.

3. Designated Workstation A dedicated workspace is essential, especially if you’re traveling with a partner. Check the photos to see if there’s a proper work area. If it’s not evident, ask the host if they can provide one.

4. Comfortable Sofa This might seem minor, but a comfy sofa is a game-changer. Avoid properties with sofas that lack armrests—they’re rarely comfortable. A cozy spot to unwind is crucial for your downtime.

At Remote Casa, we have an extensive checklist for our properties, but these four tips are easy to implement in your own searches. If you have any must-have features when looking for a property, let us know—we’d love to hear your suggestions!

Happy traveling!
